Favorite in-between wedding moments of 2019

The end of 2019 holds great significance for all of us. It is both the closing out of a single year and the winding down of an entire decade.

When I look back over the past ten years, I find that so much has changed.

I searched for new purpose and started this business. I found joy in watching my kids grow. I searched for adventure and traveled to some incredible places. I celebrated some amazing moments with friends, family and clients. I found new resilience by tackling many challenges and, most notably, I found myself paying closer attention to a subtle shift in my work - a shift that finally revealed itself to me fully this year.

For all the major events I strive to capture (the exchanging of vows, the kiss, a family beaming with pride), there's something to be said for searching out and showcasing life's little in-between moments, too. The unplanned and unexpected nature of those moments always leaves me feeling simultaneously humbled and hungry; there's something so magical about their emotionally honest and raw nature.

It was by focusing on these moments that I finally understood the shift that occurred for me in 2019.

By telling stories using more of these special slices of time, I believe I've been able to take my craft to a new height this year and for that I am grateful. The addition of these moments has given my work a perfectly imperfect quality and enables me to tell the whole story; one that's full of wonderful little 'mistakes' that show the world that there's immense value and beauty present in every moment of our lives.

It doesn't matter if the image is slightly out of focus, or blurred by the shake of my laughter. It doesn't matter if a passerby leaps in front of my camera, or if the shot isn't meticulously framed. These spontaneous moments all matter, and I can't wait to capture more of them in the year ahead.

From the bottom of my heart, I want to thank you for taking this journey with me. Your support means the world.

Wishing you and yours a very Happy New Year. May you all find whatever it is you're searching for in 2020 and beyond.
